EXISTING HOMES
In existing homes, we do a thorough inspection of the whole house.
- Air Sealing: It’s important to identify and seal areas where air is coming in and exiting the home. As you can see from the diagram below, attention to these areas is crucial.

- Attic Insulation: It’s important to bring the insulation levels up to R-49 in your attic
- Sidewall Insulation: Many of the homes in our area have little or no insulation in the walls. Adding cellulose to the walls will make the home more comfortable, less expensive to heat/cool, and provide sound control.
- Dormers/knee walls: These areas are often improperly insulated resulting in a lot of heat loss. We will correct any insulation problems in these areas.
- Duct testing/sealing: In many older homes, the forced air system is leaky and improperly insulated resulting in wasted money and energy. We will test the duct system with a duct blaster or blower door to determine how best to correct any leakage problems with the ducts.
